I've a rather large bamboo 'bush' which produces shoots yards from the main growth. If I cut one of these shoots and plant elsewhere will it take root and grow? If so what is the best way to achieve this?
In my experience the hard part is to keep these little bug.ers under control. Grrr.
Don't cut the shoots, but dig around it till you expose some of the roots, then just tug it out (damn tough tendrils, very strong), this will give you a ready made plant to re pot or plant.
Thanks Nemesis. You're right about keeping it under control, it's already sneaked into my neighbours garden and is currently protruding 4 feet high from the top of her fir tree, luckily she's quite pleased with the overall effect. If it gets any worse I might have to invest in a Panda!!
Sounds like a deal, I'll give it a go, gotta do a lot of greenfinger reading. If I have any success I've got your contact address noted and I'll let you know.
