Does anyone remember Rilson's family-run café in Southport? It was in a quiet street near to the baths between the Promenade and Lord Street. I used to visit it with my Mother in the 1950's. It had the most delicious toasted currant teacakes with lashings of real butter which had just come off rationing. As child a trip to Southport was never complete without a visit to Hesketh Park, Peter Pan's, the open-air baths, the Pleasure Beach and Rilson's café.

No Vimto, sorry I don't. I used to have to travel to Southport on "business" meetings in the 70s though. Lovely town back then. I do however remember the Floral Hall close to the marine on the promenade where we sometimes convened for a lovely meal after the meetings. Happy days.
I bet Sqad knows. :-)
LOL.......
I don't recall the name but have spent may happy times at Southport, once got lost and almost caused everyone to miss their lunch as they sent out search parties for me.

Loved the Fun House.
Vimto may have had a better response in clutterbunk. :))
Why do I find the name 'Rilson's Cafe' slightly creepy? What is it reminding me of?
10 Rillington Place ?
You could try asking on one of the 'Memory' sites, there are sure to be many.
