Finding Someone/somewhere Who Will Repair A Tablet

I own a Google Pixel C tablet. It has recently gone out of warranty and so this was precisely the time it managed to get a fault.

It has become obvious that the issue is an internal faulty connection for sometimes I can get it to work (get the screen to update) by pressing down on part of the back of the tablet. Unfortunately it is reluctant to temporarily come back that way now.

The manufacturer, Google, doesn't care, it's out of warranty, they simply have a mantra they keep repeating, that one can take it to any local repair shop. But strangely they can not or will not indicate any that will actually look at it.

The retailer, Currys, don't seem to care either. It's out of warranty, they aren't interested in repairing it, and think I will find it hard to find someone who is willing to melt the glue sealing the unit, and pull out the screen, in order to get to the connections inside. And so it seems.

Anyone know where tablets can be repaired ?

Chased it up Saturday to be told he'd passed it to their "suppliers" as they have more expertise or something. Then got a call yesterday saying they've given up. I note no mention of opening it. Picking it back up tomorrow. At least it was no fix/no fee.
your warranty may be out of date, but there is an allowance for goods that are expected to last a reasonable time above and beyond the usual one year guarantee, typically white and electrical goods.
I successfully received a full refund for a tv which expired after 16 months....from ARGOS..but this provision applies in the "fit for purpose " category.
your Trading Standards office will assist you in the pursuance of repair, replacement or refund
there was another ABer that I brought this course of action to their attention, TOGO ?, in a similar vein, and he too was successful in his refund on an item out of guarantee

It was two years warranty. I think it timed itself to be just out of time.

Google has sent me links. I will try them myself when I get the tablet back, although, as mentioned, I'm sceptical that it's a software issue anyway.
nevertheless the above applies to your tablet...it was a simple and reasonably rapid conclusion..trading standards will help...

it is a little known or advertised provision of the old sale of goods act..now consumer rights act... but I have assisted at least 6 friends away from AB to also use this provision with success...
I received a replacement TV from Argos that was out of warranty, probably two and a half years old. On the same basis as Minty, didn't last a reasonable time. BUT that was Argos, similar problem with Currys only achieved a partial refund. Argos customer services is the best and I buy a lot from them now. I would email customer services where you bought it from and have a moan or go back to the store and do the same. Two years for a tablet is not good enough!!

I believe I checked the EU law at the time to find it was 2 years, and quoted it when I'd been to Currys for an earlier power supply issue. And after 6 months the issue is with the manufacturer and one needs to prove the fault was always there, which would be difficult. But thanks for the advice.
(PS I've paid the equivalent, up front, of ~£4 a week for the tablet over the 2 years. Not exactly a bargain.)
og..the consumer rights and old sale of goods deffo applies..the guarantee of 2 years is still not a reasonable life for such a product

Latest; tried to reload O/S. Coincidently, and luckily since I needed to turn USB updates on, the tablet was having a short period of behaving. Thought reload had worked, but no. After a while the tablet went back to having the issue.

Meanwhile connected the repair company recommended by Google. As I thought, they aren't uninterested. They only fix mobile phones. No one seems either capable or willing.

Meanwhile, I've sort of given up. Paid another fortune for a new tablet. Samsung this time. (Less keen on it's screen aspect ration, bit long & thin.) It too is a sealed unit, so if it develops a fault I'll probably be in the same situation. (What is it with these carp designs/designers ? And why won't companies ensure proper repair facilities for their products before marketing them, or think it's ok to claim they've done all they can by not solving any issues ?)

If anyone ever finds a repair company that can actually open up these sealed units ...
