I just recieved my renewal notice for my dog's Abbey & Alfie pet insurance. This year Abbeys policy has increased by about 15, which I assumed (correctly) was inflation!! But Alfie's has increased by 50!! So I phoned & questioned it. The chap told me that males are more expensive to insure as more things happen to them!! I have never heard of this before & I wasn't told this when I insured them last year .

Have any of you ever heard of this? Do your insurers do the same? Do males have more things wrong with them?

Sounds like a bit of a white lie really. What's more likely to be the case is that in this insurance year the company may have had to pay out more for male dogs than for females, so they increase the premiums to cover themselves. If they'd have paid out more for females then the premium for females would have increased instead.

Try M&S for pet insurance, very cheap (can choose no excess) and covers the pet for life.

You are proabably right, but surely they should inform policy holders of this, not just wack the bill up!! By the way I agree M&S are the best for pet insurence, that is who I am with!! lol
