I received the January copy of Vogue through the post today, which, considering it’s supposed to be a Christmas present and a surprise I’m a little disappointed with. I shall hide it away (of course I’ll read it) and then act surprised when I open the letter about the subscription on Christmas Day

Publications often come out early, they should have told the purchaser this when buying - enjoy :-)

I presume they send issues out when they are due to hit the shops, that's how it works with the RT Subs I have bought as gifts.

I`ve bought a few magazine subscriptions for people as presents. I have bought two for people this Christmas. It will probably be a company such as Archant that sends them. It won't be Vogue itself. When you buy a gift subscription you are usually asked with which issue you want it to commence.

Oh that would explain it because it’s January’s edition- they’re always premature

Yes, you would need to specify that the subscription commences with the February issue as the January one would probably be on the shelves in December.

Talking of Vogue magazine, last week I was staying with a friend who has collected every issue of Vogue from the mid 1970s until the late 1990s. Reading them was fascinating. Not just the articles but the adverts as well which really indicated how times and attitudes have changed over such a relatively short period of time.

Many things come early (no pun intended). Buy something from Amazon, get told it'll be delivered in say, 5 days time, when I be in. Then it arrives next day when I won't be.

^^one of the benefits of having Amazon Prime...they say it'll be delivered next day, and it always is....

Magazines always come out the month before, but a bit daft if it's a gift subscription.
