Odd question from our GP receptionist who asked Mrs B if she was Miss xxxxx before she was Mrs B.

Answer, she was Miss xxxxx, but that was in 1970!

Mrs B was momentarily speechless so didn’t ask ‘Why?’

Do GPs keep patient notes for that long?

Surely we all have numbers anyway? I have an NHS number and we've all got a NI number (adults anyway)

The receptionist wasn’t much help. Apparently, maiden names just ‘come up’ nowadays when accessing patients’ records. Receptionist didn’t know why either!
Glad you found out all the same, it could be useful in cases of patients with the same names to avoid confusion I imagine.
