With all the energy rises, and my kettle braking down, does anyone know which option would be the cheapest - an electric kettle or a stove top kettle on a gas cooker?

electric.
I heard that it's best to boil the kettle first and use that water in a saucepan if you are boiling something on the stove, so half the work is done already.
Electric. All the energy you pay for goes into the water. OK, a bit radiates from the side of the kettle, but nowhere near as much as wafts up past the side of a pan.

Think of all the carbon monoxide produced in generating the electricity!
But I agree with Catsco, with electric, all the heat energy is going into the water.
