I have no experience of this at all but have seen it described as 'Emotional hyperactivity' - do you think that describes you?

If controlling your levels of emotion is causing difficulties then the talking therapies may well be the way to go.

Best wishes Loulou.

Thankyou Mamyalynne. It was suggested in my paperwork about talking therapies. I will be looking into this in due course.
It certainly may help you make sense of it, once we understand whats going on we can deal with it better.

Keep in touch.x
There are certainly similarities between EDD and Personality Disorder but also they are separate diagnosis. The main similarities are an unfounded sense of abandonment and often an aggressive attitude to people and life.

EDD sufferers have difficulty reacting appropriately to Emotions often trying to control someone else’s relationships
They may search for someone to blame when a problem arises rather than seek a solution and often harbour grudges, or hang onto unresolved anger.
They often create and revel in conflict, engage in circular conversations or arguments with no logic or end.
They frequently have a sense of entitlement, live in denial and believe some past events or circumstances are fictional. There can also be a tendency to self-harm through cutting or self-abusive disorders such as substance abuse or an eating disorder.

Personality Disorder: As I previously wrote. there are similarities but also there are differences, enough differences for your mental health professional to have assessed you with EDD rather than PD. I won't go into details of PD as its easily googled and not part of your question.

I hope this helps and you are offered appropriate treatment which could include Dialectical Behaviour Therapy ( DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and coping strategies such as yoga and mindfulness.
Great post MM,, very interesting .
I agree, made it really clear.
MoggyMay, that post was exactly what AB ought to be about, outstanding post.
I agree with the above comments, some splendid information and guidance given.

Well done Moggymay.
I agree an excellent answer.
It is always difficult on such a forum as AB to know exactly what level to pitch one'e answer. Too high and it will go over their heads or too low and you are thought of as simplifying the situation......the middle road is the difficult one.
The main thing about moggymay's answer is that it doesn't contain those bloody links to web sites.
