My hair is short and almost pure white. It is strong and healthy but when washed and blow dried, it can appear harsh. Is there a liquid/cream/dressing that would soften its appearance? I use wax occasionally but that's not always the look I want. Any suggestions please?

I use L'Oreal Elvive hair oil and am happy with the results though I don't blow dry my hair. Despite the name it isn't oily on the hair.
Its not an immediate solution, but I wonder if you might let it grow a little longer? At a guess its the cut that is harsh rather than your hair and you could ask for a slightly softer look next time.
John Frieda Frizz Ease is a nice product which makes your hair soft and bouncy.
I'm a frizz ease fan too. No frizz problems but it does give a wonderful shine and softness.
I use Elvive hair mask and hair oil, as my ends can frizz to high heaven. I've used John Frieda too and that's also good. I've used Argan Oil hair masks too (£1 from Savers in a olive green pot) and that's amazing for the money.x

thanks for helpful replies. I shall buy some John Frida this afternoon.
Something cheap to try- leave your conditioner on for a good 5 minutes. This will make it a lot silkier!
