I honestly don't know what this country is coming to. You can't do or say anything for fear of being arrested these days, except murder, rape or rob someone, then you're OK!

Bit 1984ish, imo. Anyone agree?

'In addition to reporting hate crime, please report non-crime hate incidents, which can include things like offensive or insulting comments, online, in person or in writing. Hate will not be tolerated in South Yorkshire. Report it and put a stop to it #HateHurtsSY'

Wasting police time is a criminal offence, so I'm surprised the police are encouraging it.

We can only hope they're inundated with calls from people telling them that this insulting nonsense hurts their feelings.
You couldn't make it up!!
We'd better be careful not to upset any of our ABers who hail from S Yorks, Gulp!
Caller: Hello, I'd like to report my bike's been stolen.
Police: Forget it mate you've got no chance.
Caller: But it really hurt my feelings.
Police: We'll be round in 5 minutes.
The next time my house gets robbed or the car gets nicked, I am going to get the missus to ring the police and tell them I called her a *** (lady dog)...seems doing that will possibly get a response rather than a crime number.
//Hate will not be tolerated in South Yorkshire.//

bearing in mind Rotherham is in South Yorkshire, I think we can work out what the local constabulary will tolerate. maybe that's where the victims were going wrong?
/// 28-year-old Ayaan Ali has been charged with attempted murder, but police have said that since the incident, there has been an increase in Islamophobic outbursts on social media and in the streets of south Yorkshire. ///

Ah! so that's what it is all about, they are looking after the Muslims once again, when they should be addressing the concerns of the general public at large.

People are getting annoyed about all these attacks most carried out in the name of Islam. Will the police take notice of their concerns or accuse them of being Islamophobic if they dare to speak out on social media or on the streets of south Yorkshire, as in this case?
