can anyone reccommend what they should have in them , is it cheaper to make your own or buy one already made up ?

Yes definately cheaper. My suggestion
Strip plaster (you can cut it to size) Waterproof
Gauze
Micropore
Savlon or similar
small scissors
Blister pads
cotton wool to wash any cuts
Don`t bother with Detol, use salt.
You should find that`s all you need.
