copying films onto dvd

i have a few films on my laptops external hard drive and i wish to copy them onto dvd.could anyone tell me how to do this please?

If you just want to play them on your pc then just burn them as data.But if you want to watch them on your dvd player you will need a converter program.I use winavi,its fast and works fine.there are loads out there.
