I have travelled and worked in Africa in various countries (war torn and peaceful). A large number of businesses, (hotels supermarkets etc) are owned by the Lebanese. if it is a business there is lebanese hands in it. How did this come about...what is the history of this migration into Africa. How come they stayed even after the genocides in Rwanda and Congo.

Well being half Lebanese I can tell you many Lebanese have left their country becuase of the failing economy and set up new lives for themselves in other countries where they see the opportunity. Many have gone to Africa and South America and have set up families there over several generations, so they feel tied to those countries intsead.
