I know what you want and there are ways to do it. However, it can depend upon the operating system in use.

Please say if you are using Windows 7, 8 10 or whatever.

Hans
and what programme you're using.

Yous are going to kill me - I don't know what windows it is. How could I find out then I could let you know
OK. Let's start at the beginning...... What are you using ? A laptop, desktop, smart phone, tablet and, if possible , make and model. ?

Hans.
I'm guessing that you're referring to your web browser (Firefox, if I recall correctly), rather than to something like Microsoft Word.

Many (probably most) websites provided their own font information, which your web browser then includes within what it shows to you. Making the page bigger (by pressing Ctrl and +together) then simply magnifies the whole page, in a similar way to enlarging a photograph. (i.e. you can't separate the text from the images via Ctrl and +).

However it's possible to turn off the feature which forces Firefox to use the fonts provided by websites. That enables you to choose your own font style (and, importantly, the size of your chosen font). Depending upon how the web page is coded though, thatquote[might] lead to some odd results (such as text overlapping images or loads of blank space). Even so, it wouldn't do any harm to experiment a bit (and a single click can get you back to how things were if you don't like the result of your experiments):

Click on the three lines (top right).
Select 'Options'.
'General', in the left-hand column will probably be pre-selected; if not, click on it.
Scroll down to 'Language and Appearance: Fonts & Colors'
Click on 'Advanced'
Leave the top box set to 'Latin'
Remove the tick next to "Allow pages to choose their own fonts . . . "
Click 'OK'

See how things look then. (Remember that you'll need to reload any pages you've already got on screen, by pressing F5, to see how the change affects them). If you don't like what you see (because the fonts aren't big enough for you), go back again and change the 'Proportional' and 'Monospace' font sizes to something bigger.

If you find a size that you like but you don't like the font style you can then experiment further with all of the different fonts available on your computer.

[Remember that simply putting the tick back next to 'Allow pages to choose their own fonts' is all you need to do to get back to the situation where each website picks its own fonts, so you don't need to worry about messing things up]

Ach Chris - I'm just a backward old lady who couldn't understand all the computer jargon. But I'll give it a go LOL
Question Author
Chris - you did read my reply that I was able to access to the site with the 502 Error and email addresses on Google Chrome - but then I go back to Firefox
Question Author
Yes - that's better - Latin - easier on the eye.
