In South Australia it has been decriminalised to the extent that it is not a criminal offence to own some plants for personal use (although they can't be hydroponically grown) although you can get a fine.

I think you will find that in AMsterdam it is not legalised. You cannot smoke it wherever you want in public.

It may not even be decriminalised as I am fairly sure the police still retain the power of arrest for possession. They just take the 'sensible' line of not charging you if you are not doing something stupid (like driving under the influence etc)

During the Vietnam war, there were stories in the UK that pot was legal in Thailand. Thus a Peace Corps (which I gather was a non-combatant alternative to call-up) assignment to Thailand was akin to Heaven on Earth.
Perhaps the more pertinent question is "where was it never made illegal in the first place?". There must be quite a few countries where that would be the case. It's only marijuana, after all.
Holland Portugal and for medical use in some american states. Belguim and Germany have very leanient laws to. The Portugal is one step further the havemade all drugs legal. Yeah and of course Holland isn't totally legite answer just certain coffeshops or Hasch bar.
