hydrangea trauma

i have a climbing hydrangea which is refusing to open its buds. its in good soil, good position and i sing to it daily.... do these plants have a habit of lying dormant?

Isn't it a bit early yet? My plants barely have buds on them and it is far too cold for the flowers to be opening. But I do live in the north.....

Still far too early for Hydrangeas to flower.....My RHS book says May onwards for Flowering season so you have a few weeks to go yet.....
P.S. When you say good soil what do you mean?

Yes, just a bit more patience is needed as the 'Lacecap' or Climbing Hydrangea (H.petiolaris) is not going to appear until June, or the end of May at the very earliest.

thankyou to all who posted an answer (apart from =mc2, my singing is lovely) -think i should have been clearer as i meant leaves, not flowers.... but am mainly reassured. am very new to gardening, and have the patience of a sleep deprived two year old... sft, have raised the bed (paranoid about poisoned soil) and filled it with compost and top soil as directed by those absolootely useless tags which come with the plant.
