I am trying to do my Tesco online shopping for delivery tomorrow.

I need to buy a bayonet light bulb for my kitchen ceiling. It used to be simple to pick the right bulb.

They have halogen bulbs and LED bulbs - which one is the right one to buy?

Power consumption and lifetime-wise LED is more efficient but usually more expensive to buy.

Thanks, Mr Coo

When did one lightbulb start costing £4.50? I would be better off buying a miners helmet with a bright lamp on it.

I am always wary about the halogen ones - my girl cat is long haired and stupid, she set her bum on fire when she fell asleep under a halogen desk lamp.
You'll find LED lamps for a lot less that that Wolf, but not brought to your door with bananas and stuff. :-)

Very true, I would spend half my life lugging bottles of Pepsi Max, Cat litter and cat food from Tesco without their delivery service.
Had exactly the same dilemma, it's a nightmare! So a friend who said they'd been buying the old sort of bulb got me some.... Well they weren't the old ones of course. However in B &M they bought me two 100watt and 2 60 watt bulbs and they were halogen bayonet fittings. PERFECT. So that's what I would recommend. Better light too.... I'm happy and now I know what to get in future.
LED everytime....very efficient (cheap to run), run very cool (less of a fire risk than halogen, which run hot) and very long life. I got a box of five (or was it six?) for less than a tenner....

I might put up with the dark kitchen for a bit longer and then go to B&M to see if they have bulbs.

I have to use a ladder to get up to the high ceiling and I am not really looking forward to leaving the ground.

Meanwhile, I will try and find the bulbs that I am sure that I bought and stashed away to keep them safe.
