Why Are There No Subtitles On Virgin Media Catch Up?

My nephew has just signed up to Virgin Media, but they didn't tell him about this. It's a big deal for him as he is hard of hearing.

There is a Sub-titles button on Remote Control, just under the info button
Most catch up tv services don't support subtitles, it is not necessarily Virgin's fault.
He can record programmes that he wants to watch later and the subtitles will record
Sky catch up is the same. It really annoys me.

Regrettably, it doesn't offer a solution but the links contained within that thread are still well worth reading.
Just press Sub-titles button on v6 Remote, and if they are available they will appear.
Could not be simpler
