Usually go to Spain where we get more euros for your pounds than here. In March we got €1.13 to the pound whereas it was €1.08 in England. We normally take some euros then change the rest whilst we are away.
Been many years since we were in Italy and can’t remember (it was in the lire days!).

Whatever you do, don't change your money at the airport - terrible rates

unless you are making huge foreign exchange deals, it doesn't make a huge amount of difference

Thanks! I never buy a the airport. We are half board, so will have lunch out. Daughter and grandson with us, so will have to fill up on breakfast!
There is a fridge, so will buy our own drinks and snacks.
Don't get euros here nor exchange sterling cash abroad. Just get cash in euros from ATM while abroad.
