Is My Bedroom A Portal To Somewhere Else?!

No idea which heading to put this under, this seemed as good as any.
I've lived in this 1930s house for 8 years and it has a great atmosphere. Several things that I've dropped have been lost, never to be seen again despite extensive and intensive searching of all nooks and crannies. I've always just assumed that I've missed them (earrings, perfume bottle stoppers etc.) and that they have been sucked up by my powerful vacuum cleaner. BUT, this morning several of my collection of wooden boxes fell off the table in the bay window -one, about 4" by 2 and a half and full of earrings and brooches is nowhere to be seen! I have moved absolutely everything and even resorted to looking in the wardrobes and chests of drawers but there is absolutely no sign of it. I'd have thought the top would have come off and the contents be all over the floor as with the other boxes. I don't know what to think.....

Still no sign of box or contents - will post if it ever turns up.

Update. Four years have passed and still no sign of box or contents. I moved house last year so don't expect to ever see the box and contents again. I still don't know what to think....
