Hi
The council have just dig up my base in the garden for the rotary washing line. The base is possibly solid ?, 18 inches square across the top and 18 inches deep. They found a rounded 19 inch long black, extremely heavy metal item, could be solid?? Rounded at each end. (The shape of a rolling pin). I was told my street was bombed in the war, just wondered if anybody had any ideas what it could possibly be.
Thanks
Di

It might be a german S D 10 bomb or most probable one variation of the Luftwaffe's incendiary muntions. ....Don' go near it call the bomb squad.

Hi
Thanks for your reply. Just had the police round to check it out, (I know it might sound daft but you never know), after examining it, they said its not a bomb or anything. Have not got a clue what it is and advised me just to dump it.
Regards
Di

What diameter is it, does it have any holes in it? I thought it could be a sash window weight. The common old style house windows that used to slide vertically downwards had heavy long slim weights in the frame to counter balance the window top frame, They tend to turn up in gardens of terraced houses all the time.
