Any hairdressers out there ... why is it that however much you spend on products, conditioners, gel, hairbrushes or dryers, even if you buy things actually from the hairdresser at some ridiculous price, you can NEVER get your hair looking like it does at the hairdressers. I have tried watching them and copying exactly but nothing ever gives you that fresh out of the salon look. Come on ... trade secrets please !!!!

3 years training and the fact that they can see your whole head as opposed to one bit you can see in the mirror, doing your own hair is very different although saying that, most hairdressers can do their own as well. I don't know the answer Lady_p_gold. I guess thats why salon owners make so much money!
i wish i knew the answer too!
i've often wondered the same thing.
The biggest difference is at home you use much more shampoo and conditioner than the salon.

More is NOT better! Use half the amount and leave the conditioner on for the time it states on the bottle, not longer because you think it will be more effective.

Wash your hair as if it is a cashmere jumper - carefully, not stretching and tugging at it. Wash the scalp thoroughly too.

And your hair dresser does not dry you as if you are a muddy dog. He or she gently pats it.

Go on - see if I'm right. :)
Maybe your not good at doing hair?
Here's a tip:

When blow-drying, always turn your head upside down to get extra volume. And dry your hair completely from when it is wet (i.e. do not allow your hair to dry partly before drying and do not only part-blow dry).
After years of wondering the same my tip is to start going out with your hairdresser!
Met my boyf when he did my hair 3 years ago and now i can achieve that salon look every day..hee hee
sorry champagne, u have to let ur hair dry 80% before blowdrying. I am a hairdresser by the way!
