Yes religeon is very sexist, written by men for men, but if you believe in God, and its the word of God, then ladies, you are second class citizens.

I personally have no remit on this.
Religion has for centuries been twisted to mean whatever the ruling classes have wanted it to mean.
i totally have felt that way in terms that through out history man has always blamed woman and put them second. ( bible was written by man)But all the wrong doings of women have been myths , figurative characters, such as Pandora and her box and Eve. But in reality men have done all the wrong: Hitler, Suddam hussein, etc. A false image that has just begun in the last century to wear off and show that women are truly powerful and just as equal if not more in society.

i could start something with this post but don't you think it just means men are weaker than women cos they wont take responsibilities for their own actions and blame a women instead just a thought ps if it bothers you that much you could always take a holiday to o.w.k where men are the submissive ones and women are in charge!!!! mmmm ideal word lol
I suspect that it's more to do with a fear of women's sexuality than anything else, the Bible is full of 'licentious' women who come to a sticky end (Lot's wife, Jezebel) or who are blamed for men's weaknesses (Eve, Bathsheba). Christianity is based on a book written by men, interpreted by men and administered by men (mainly): are you surprised that religion is sexist?

BTW, Adam and Eve didn't bit an apple. They ate of the fruit of the tree of knowledge: there's no mention of an apple in the Bible.
But when Cain and Abel were told to go forth and multiply - who else was on earth then? Seeing as Adam and Eve were the first.

Psalm 68;11Jehovah himself gives the saying;
The women telling the good news are a large army.
Jehovah God respects women. It is organised religion that has failed you.
Mata hari....the Bible says Adam and Eve were the first...i don't think it were the only.

And i don't think Eve MADE Adam take a bite...she tempted him....but in the end Adam has to take responsibilty for his own actions!! :o)
Hi Crazie, Although the Bible does say that it was Eve who first disobeyed [ because she listened to Satan [ the serpent] and then encouraged Adam to do likewise, there are other scriptures that praise women for their efforts. In the matter of telling the Good News, Psalm 68;11Jehovah himself gives the saying;
The women telling the good news are a large army.
It is only in the matter of teaching from the platform/stage/pulpit, that the apostle Paul advised that only men were to teach. To teach and to preach are two different things. 1 Corinthians 14;33For God is [a God], not of disorder, but of peace.

As in all the congregations of the holy ones, 34let the women keep silent in the congregations, for it is not permitted for them to speak, but let them be in subjection, even as the Law says. 35If, then, they want to learn something, let them question their own husbands at home, for it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in a congregation.
1 Timothy 2;11Let a woman learn in silence with full submissiveness. 12I do not permit a woman to teach, or to exercise authority over a man, but to be in silence. 13For Adam was formed first, then Eve. 14Also, Adam was not deceived, but the woman was thoroughly deceived and came to be in transgression. 15However, she will be kept safe through childbearing, provided they continue in faith and love and sanctification along with soundness of mind.
