Easter is a bigger deal in the Christian calendar than Christmas... but how many of you still celebrate it even if you're not religiously inclined?

By celebrate I mean anything from having the family round for a big roast dinner after spending the morning in church, to simply buying an Easter egg, or perhaps giving something up for lent?

awe bless to ummm... belated happy Mothers day to you Xx
Lol...it's okay. They always ask me what I want and always say nothing. My daughter got up early and did the housework. My son bought me a takeaway.
bhg481, Easter has been in May . But it was before we switched from the Julien to the Gregorian calendar in 1752. The calendar 'jumped' 10 days.
I'll take the days off and if someone wants to get me an easter egg i'll eat it (nice choc please not those horrible ones) other than that, nope don't celebrate any religious stuff.

i'd happily go to any food festivals and celebrate a lot at those.....
My favourite thing about Easter is that Spring is usually on its way by then.
I Celebrate spring with planting and cleaning I put away the candles and let the light in by cleaning windows. Enjoy seasonal food and try to get out in the green world. The Easter holiday is a convenient time. The name Easter comes I believe from Eostre which was a spring festival.
Give the early Christians their due they were good at hijacking convenient local festivals, minor gods and customs to make their offering more palatable. The biggest example was the development of JCs mother into a divine being to appeal to the goddess worshipping pagans.

Pardon?
Mr Shah was murdered shortly after wishing his customers Happy Easter.
Not by a white extremist as the article suggests but by another Muslim.
