get irritated at the AB users who seem not to want to answer questions? We keep getting rants on 'why do we get questions from lazy students/ children/ teenagers'...what do these people think the site is for? Surely its a question/answer forum? Bah.

I get annoyed at people using a post as a discussion forum. Someone posts a question such as "where can i buy a ..." and others say "Oh I had one of those, didn't like it though"

If I'd wanted an opinion I'd have asked for it!!!
This is a reasonably good idea for a site which has a few faults. Due to it's own popularity pre-moderation of posts and questions doesn't seem possible so unfortunately just like the democracy we live in you have to put up with views that sometimes annoy you.....I don't mind most questions, though I do wish people wouldn't just continue to post the latest Linx, Peugeot, Burdalls' gravy block whatever type question but have a look at the options given when it says your question may have been answered. Following on from that I tend to ignore lazy kids who want their homework done for them now.....I wouldn't mind one asking something along the lines of "I'm doing X and I have got stuck any pointers please?" but rather like beggars who used to ask for 10p for a cuppa and are now want a 1 and half accosting you, these kids want you to write the whole bleedin' essay for them....that does annoy me a bit but I just ignore it now.

There are a few other similar sites to this one out there and I think this is a little better due to the more informal approach to the forum, rather than just a sterile and dry factual only answer, so I for one welcome a little debate and opinions being injected. Once you have got your answer you can always tick the box to get no more emails and forget about it.

The only questions that annoy me are the ones to which the Questioner obviously knows the answer - to me that is not really in the spirit of the Site, but as my learned friend points out, we must take allcomers, annoying or not.
I agree, inc. This is a Q&A site, and I sometimes like to help out a struggling student or school pupil. I also like a bit of discussion and humorous chat.
Not particularly, they are easy enough to ignore. I don't mind the discussion bits either. The worst for me is the spamming of a category and outright rudeness towards felow members.
I'm not saying !
I think it's fine as it is. I quite like it when a question turns into a debate/forum - makes it more human. There is quite a bit of moaning about how and what it should be, but then that happens whatever community you're part of.
I'm of the opinion that if I can answer a question, I will. I might not answer it directly - I don't think it's much help (other than in the short term) to do someone's homework for them - but I take your point.
