Tomorrow is my lunch club that I organise. I have just under 40 people coming weather permitting.
I am getting paranoid about the snow, we have had quite a few blizzards today but haven't really settled.
Where we are going for lunch is a bit out in the country and prone to snow drifts so am a bit wary of what it will be like tomorrow.
Keep fingers crossed for me that things will be okay please.

There's not a speck of snow shown all day on the weather map for your area, Caran:

Wrap up warm though!

(Oddly, people often tell me to 'wrap up' even in August. I wonder why?)
Think you might be okay, Caran:

That looks promising, thank you Chris and goodgoalie.
I weather watch too when it is like this. I need to keep my tortoises cool enough to stay in hibernation and not cold enough for them to freeze....means juggling box insulation, heaters and daytime ventilation when the sun is on their hibernation shed. Saying up for a while yet to do a couple more checks on them tonight.
Never dreamt they needed such specialised care Woofy.
^^^ Ruddy 'eck!

I thought that four cats were difficult enough to look after. It sounds as if tortoises could be even more trouble!

(I'm wondering what my cats would do if they met a tortoise. I suspect that two of them would regard it as ruddy difficult prey and the other two would simply run away in pure fright!)
Interesting Chris. I suppose it is not uncommon for them to come across each other in gardens during the warmer months. I might google it tomorrow but I'm too tired tonight. Off to bed now.
Hope all goes well for your lunch tomorrow Caran.
Do your cats go outside Chris ?
My cats go where THEY want, Anne. I don't get a say in it!
Hmmm . . .

I remember it well when I had cats! I would love another one but OH is not keen. He thinks about holidays and what to do with them. Mind daughter has said she would have any we have to stay.
I am working myself up to having a stand off!!!

By and large, cats don't seem to mind/notice torts but dogs in general are a risk. They have been known to treat the poor torts like chew toys which is fatal for the tort with no second chances. My dogs have met my tortoises under careful supervision but the torts have a whole solidly fenced and double gated area of the garden where the dogs cannot go in the summer. torts are an odd mix of needing care and not needing care. You don't have to train them(and can't housetrain them!!) but they do have intelligence and can learn. They don't need company, but are somehow soothing to watch. The two big issues are correct feeding and temperature control. Crack those and the rest is easy.....oh and they are escape artists and can climb when they feel like it!
Woof, are they kept outside ?
They go out as soon as its warm enough. They spend as much of spring and autumn that they are awake for in my spare bedroom with the floor heavily covered in pee and poo proof dropcloth stuff!
How old are they ?
One I know is around 85 years old. I have her complete history from the person who gave her to me who had her from the man who got her as a hatchling. The other I know is at least 54 years old as I know when I got her but she was an adult then so she could be 10 to 20 years older than 54.
Wow. :-)
