Hi there,

I have a 2:1 in Psychology and I'm interested in becoming a midwife - fair change of direction in career I know but I'm really interested in this and if I'm honest I always have been.

Is there anywhere, preferably in the North, which does a Post Grad in midwifery but isn't 'Nursing', or do I NEED to do Nursing before I can specialise?

Thanks for any help :o)

You can go straight into midwifery training, as long as you satisfy the entry criteria.

If its the North East you will need to apply to either Middlesbrough or Northumbria uni's, you will meet the education requirments if you already hold a degree, but it's a 4 year training course and you will start at the begining and worst of all there is currently a 2 year waiting list to start these courses (my cousin has just been accepted to start March 2008)
also, a lot of places are cutting down their postgrad courses in midwifery due tot he current nhs climate - ie must save money
