Prisoners who are scheduled for release at weekends are actually released on Friday mornings. Apart from anything else, the release day has to be when
(a) there are train services running back to the offender's place of residence ; and
(b) the relevant probation service has staff on duty (as released prisoners are often required to go directly to meet a probation officer).
