They talked about this on TV not long ago when David Blaine did his living in a bubble thing.
Apparently, normal length of time is less than a minute (about 45 secs) and the people they asked to do it on the show (sportsmen) didn't break 1min. My friend and I tried it, first attempt was 1:50, 2nd attempt was 2:40 ish and I'm sure if I tried a few more times I could break 3:30.
2 minutes exactly the first time. I started feeling uncomfortable at about 1.10 though. After 1.50 it was just the will to hit 2 minutes that did it. I might try for more
just had one of my consultants do it, whom in his infinite wisdom mentioned he has to old his breath for other activities.
Believe me he did not last very long and was taking a few deep gasps once he started recovering. I think i will give it a miss, just incase i too start panting like a dog in the office.
all depends on your fitness level and lung capacity. i can go for 3 and a half minutes, but then i do a lot of scuba and snorkelling. could prob do longer if i didnt love tabs!!
I've been practicing all day and have hit the 4:30 mark on 2 occasions. Not easy, gotta really concentrate and physically stop yourself from breathing.
I'm still a long way off from passing out though, just the overwhelming urge to breathe is hard to ignore. If I pinch my nose I reckon I could go to 6 mins before I pass out!
