Please help before I create a new fashion trend for bald women..For reasons best known to me I use Yahoo as a home page and today an unwanted mystery toolbar entiltle 'mywebsearch' has appeared below my Yahoo companion one. If I select the 'view' option this toolbar does not seem to be amongst those listed ..how can I get rid of it and return to life as I knew it?? Trudi

Try going to the Control Panel on your computer, then going to Add/Remove Programs and looking for the mywebsearch icon, then remove it from your programs

OK..going on from my question above I might have shed some light on it myself, when I look under the start menu on the control programme and search under add/remove programmes I find a programme entitled 'mywebsearch' (Smilie Central) I am assuming it has got there due to some pop up being inadvertently clicked on..and I am also assuming that deleting this will get life back to normal..am I right and is it safe to delete this through the control/add & delete section...

Oops crossed in the post there Marine02, thanks anyway will delete it from there...xx
Sorry just to clarify that, look for the listing of mywebsearch in the list of programs, left click to select it then click on Remove. Hope this helps!
LOL yes I think our posts crossed over more than once! Hope you have got it sorted now and that it causes you no more problems :)
Sorry forgot to say: yes it is safe to delete it from the list, that should remove it permanently.
I would also run "spybot search and destroy" to remove other bits of spy software. Its free and you can get it here: http://www.safer-networking.org/

Thanks people for all your help, life has returned to normal (with spyware) it just shows what a danger to ourselves we novices are who don't stop to think before we ask for help!! The Milky Bars are on me!
As well as using "Spybot" it is also a good idea to download another free "Spyware" Checker, called "Ad-aware" which you can get from here - http://www.lavasoft.de/ remember to update both programs at least weekly, and run them both weekly too!!
I had exactly the same problem last week, with exactly the same website hijacking my home page.I downloaded Spybot search and destroy at the weekend, and it found over 80 problems.I deleted all 80 and my PC is now running smoothly.
