pda keeps crashing my laptop

I have got a new (to me) pda and when i try to install the software and connect it to my laptop it crashes the machine and i have to revert to a previously saved state.

any ideas why and how i can deal with this?

Try installing it in Safe mode. You may have another software that is compeating with it. e.g:
Mcafee antivirus installed with nortan is a no no.

what kind of PDA is it? What software are you trying to install? Which machine crashes?
