I was recently informed that as an employee I have the right to see the companies wage list for everyone else within our company.
Is this true and how do I go about doing it?

It's unusual for a company to give out others' individual salary details to ordinary employees, as that would be confidential information. Usually you have a right to see salary bands/grades, ie the appropriate salary range for a particular grade. In the case of teachers, doctors etc., you'll find these in something like Whittaker's Almanac. In my own case, I work for a local council and the salary grades are readily available via the intranet, but that's about it.

I have been looking recently to work for the local council but havent had any experience in doing so and have no idea what the grades are (what level you need to be for the job). Please can you let me know where I can find this information and are all local councils the same (the one I am looking at is a local London council)

thanks x
OF COURSE you can demand to see what everone else is earning. While you at it, demand to see all other details of their life i.e. why is her with the long legs getting more than the fat frumpy one. Why is that spotty item who is always sniffing around getting a cash bous of 500. a month (it is actually because he is blackmailing your boss). Why does J.S. get his bill for internet porno paid by the company. Why does the Sales Director and his secretary get get paid that huge amount of "overtime" when no-one else is working. Who really is that smaty-pants new junior`s dad?.
Why does that gullible fool who thinks she`s entitled to know these answers, get less than anyone else? (The answer to this is because she is to busy prying to get her work done).

So you see, you can demand all you like, but you have absolutely no right to know my wages.
Why are some people just so rude. Perhaps you can answer that too Cliffs Pansy?

The figures you require are here, by Spine Point. You will have to find out roughly what Spine Point the sort of job you are thinking of relates to.
