I close friend who recently died of cancer was a massive Flying Scotsman fan, he even had the flowers on his coffin designed to look like the Flying Scotsman. His wife wants to carry out his last wish which was to scatter his ashes on the track bed before the Flying Scotsman passes over it. I have found that the Scotsman will be traveling from Norwich to London via Cambridge on 21st October. She wants to be on the platform of our local station Royston Hert's so she can scatter the ashes.
She has asked me to help , but I can't find the timetable. The web site says that they have been told not to publish the times as they do not want the tracks too crowded with spectators . Can anyone help?
All I can find is that it is an evening run.

The operating company http://www.steamdreams.com/Executables/GT410WebContent.exe?&;ActionCode=flyingscotsman&SS=SDSVR01\&DB=SteamDreams&Division=A might be sympathetic to a request for timing information. It might also be helpful to contact Royston station staff in advance to tell them of their plans.

Been to the station, they just tell you to contact Great Northern Customer relations who will not tell you any details. Tried Steam Dreams but there is no timetable just an option to book a ticket at £385 . Only gives the date and the route. There are two trips that day this is the second one. The first is a round trip starting from Norwich and back to Norwich, it is the return Norwich to London I need.
The times for the return trip are on the link I gave.

Thanks Mamy , leaves Norwich at 2pm. So any time from 3.45 to 4.30 at my station. It says there is no exact time as it has to fit around the normal schedules. The plan is she scatters the ashes and I will take photos.
Return trip is diesel hauled.

Thanks J J as well, that is about when I thought it would be, going to be getting dark by then.

JJ you have me worried now, that is not what the steam dreams web site seems to say
''This trip will be diesel hauled on the return journey. On the outward journey, Flying Scotsman will take us on a fast run south through Ely and Cambridge before picking up the East Coast route to London''
I am now thinking the full trip is Norwich to London with an overnight stay then the return to Norwich next day.
According to RTT departs Norwich 14:10 arrives Royston 16:23 departs Royston 16:35

Thanks all, I think it is steam hauled to London, there is a diesel hauled return on 22nd. I'll phone Steam Dreams and check though.

If they won't let us on the station platform I know there is a level crossing just 1 mile down the line towards London, that may even be a better option to scatter the ashes. The station staff were not helpful when I asked if it was possible to scatter the ashes and just referred me to customer support, they were no use either.
If I was you I would scatter the ashes at the level crossing as places can be "funny" about doing it on their property
You might find yourself up for littering, vandalism, trespass or worse if you don't go about your business in a low key way.

Looks like this train has been cancelled and will now run on 11 November instead.
