So what do we all make of this? (Probably a good idea to read the article which goes some way to clarifying the legal obligations of bus drivers).

TFL should have worked harder with Chris Stapleton, he isn't unknown to them - as long as the guidelines are blurred this will go on. https://inews.co.uk/essentials/news/uk/travelling-disabled-person-i-argue-right-use-wheelchair-space-bus/

Well yes she made one inappropriate comment but what was she supposed to do, especially as already stressed from being filmed. What about all the people on the bus that obviously made no attempt to make a space? If it's not law that it's just for wheelchairs then she had no recourse.
They're not the problem though as they can easily move out of the way. The problem is when the space has a couple of buggies in there and a wheelchair passenger turns up.
Sorry, that was to jno.
Ygritte, Chris wouldn't have called her a "Black Beach" or anything remotely like that whilst he was filming.

He's not that silly.
// the guidelines apparently say ‘they should take steps beyond just a simple request‘ //

but are unclear:

er that is why they are guidelines....(and not rules or byelaws)

Manch we do it much better
I paid for a black sack cloth draped woman who only had £20 and the next week the same bus driver waited for me as I tottered along the pavement
// especially as already stressed from being filmed.//

sorry you dont go all wobbly walking up a street because you are being filmed or get jellied knees when you go into a bank or supermarket
"sorry you dont go all wobbly walking up a street because you are being filmed or get jellied knees when you go into a bank or supermarket"

But in neither of those cases are you face to face with a crusader on wheels who is out to score points at your expense.
Punters on the bus won't move, driver can't make them move, wheeled avenger produces script and makes his movie then waits for the next bus.
What are you talking about PP? CCTV? Totally different and irrelevant, not the same as having a phone aimed at you with one obvious purpose.
It is possible he had to wait for that particular bus ... cos the others had room.
Appalling behaviour from the Jamaican driver. A lovable Cockney would never have behaved like that.
Put your stirrer away for today Jude - you're getting boring now.
Best answer for Talbot at 14:03

Stapleton was looking for a victim, found one and then deliberately pushed and needled her beyond the point of acceptability.

She wasn't perfect - one single comment when pushed past her breaking point was very unfortunate - but ultimately she did what was required and he behaved appallingly badly.

The law needs changing to give wheelchair users an absolute right to have the chronically entitled and unfeeling baby buggiers thrown off if they won't move - but as the law currently stands my sympathies are entirely with the driver.
Personally, I loathe people like him.
I have never had to cope with being in a wheelchair.....but MrG did.

He didn't demand special treatment just because he was in a wheelchair but I think his attitude toward others made folk want to help as much as they could when it was necessary......

This man began with a nasty and demanding attitude so I do agree with Dave agreeing with Talbot....x
ygritte I hope the nasty woman does get reported for a hate crime. She looks like the type that would be the first to phone the Police if he had called her a Black beach. There are far too many nasty people about these days and often disabled folk are a soft target.

Ah a very retro but not very chic post.
