My dog LOVES chasing the flies that get into my house in the summer. This might sounds daft, but if she managed to catch one (unlikely admittedly) and swallow it, would it do her any damage? Just curious!

No Flies are pure protein
My cat catches and eats them all the time, doesn't seem to do him any harm.
One of my dogs eats them all the time - it gives him something to do in the evening - hunt flies. He doesn't seem to suffer any ill effects from it. The other one just watches them, but he did try and eat a frog the other day. He spat it out pretty quickly though!
flies and spiders are part of a domestic dogs staple diet.
just watch them with the bees and wasps though.
Mine can't stand the taste of them- he'll happily chase then and if he's fortunate enough to catch one, he'll just leave it on the floor looking not disimilar to a raisin!
Make sure you deworm your dogs regularly as some flies can carry worm eggs. Gross
