How many series will there be of lost?

Does anyone know how many series of tv drama lost have been made/are planned to be made?

apparantly there have been 8 written but i'm not sure how many of those will be televised

It all depends on audience ratings in the States.
If the viewing figures fall, the series will be cancelled.
This doesn't stop the production team planning 5 or 8 series, but it doesn't mean that is how many there will be.

They said they have enough material for another 7 seasons... i hope it lasts long!

If they're still writing, doesn't that mean there will be no conclusion? Or is that the idea all along, keep it going until it's cancelled with no proper ending!
