I noticed that the inside of where my nail meets the skin on my index finger kept getting red and sore. Ive tried antibiotics but it keeps coming back. I'm sure I had this when I was kid. There must be a way of shifting it.

It does sound like paronychia and it likely a fungal aetiology. You could try rubbing diluted tea tree oil into the affected area but you're still best off seeing your GP for anti-fungal treatment.

What does the doc who gave you the antibiotics say?
This sounds like a Paronychia (Google it) and as antibiotics have failed to clear it, it is almost certainly fungal.
You need a fungal/steroid cream which may be available over the counter, if not see your GP.
Warm baths for the finger is a waste of time.
