What are freshwater pearls. Are there real or manufactured?

Thery are real. Made by freshwater molluscs instead of salt water. Allegedly one of the reasons that caesar came to Britain was because of the size and quality of our native frshwater pearls. The ones you see for sale are cultured, like most salt water pearls are now. If you are a devotee of mussels to eat and buy them fresh to cook yourself, occasionally you will find a very small grey natural pearl in one
