i have just seen a girl on bblb, whose job it is to shread documents - she can't work th machine properly and so shoves half the page in, pulls it out then shoves the other side in, leaving in intact centre section with shredded ends - she said 'i think thats shredded enough now staring at it!!

how dumb can you get?? her boss is going to flip when he sees how she is binning partially shredded private documents.

i cannot believe she doesn't realise that just flattening the page will make it readable!! an that the point of shredding is so that its pretty impossible to put the strips back in the right order

and she did this on national TV!!

so my question is - what mind numbingly idiotic things have you or someone you know done, that are blatanly obvious but it took someone to explain it before you realised how daft you had been.

not just slip ups and mistakes but blatant thoughtlessness.

another one i have that i have nevcer forgotten was my ex. i had tied a long piece of string to my duspan and brush to keep them together and still be able to use them. i came home one day and he proudly announced that he has cut the string to about a foot long 'so it hangs on the hook nicely and doesn't hang down low' - i simply said ' great. now try using it'. now at this point you'd think he'd realise, but no, he had to take it off the hook and mimic using it before he realised. he looked gutted.

I had a Ford Corsair Executive, V6 engine, automatic. A red light started coming on occasionally, usually when i went round corners. It never bothered me and looked quite hi tech too, in the days when there was no such phrase! Anyway, we had to travel up from Cardiff to Lancashire for the Christmas break, on the way up the car blew up, it had hardly any oil in it. Whilst we were waiting for the RAC at the side of the M5, I said to him, 'Well how was I to know it was low on oil?' and he said something like, ' I know don't worry, the warning light mustn't be working'. I asked him what the warning light was and he showed it me. My mistake was to tell him that it had been coming on as I went round corners. We waited 3 hours for the RAC recovery. He picked on me for weeks after that.
my dad tried making a phone call on the tv remote....does that count?
my friend said she didnt like fruit salad because she didnt like lettuce
I once posted my car keys and never realised until I got back to my car with the letter still in my hand! I was lucky in that I only had to wait about 20 mins for the next collection but still felt a total pratt!

PhilBy, that is pure quality!

Did you do the thing where you peered through the slot just in case ... :0)?

lol no! I just checked my pockets numerous times in the hope they would magically appear before the postman did :-)

LOL philby.
at least you didn't mean to do it, that was just absentmindedness - the worst is when someone does something that if they had thought just a tiny bit further ahead and a tiny bit more logically they wouldn't do it.

another one i thought of is a friend of mine were listening to a black sabbath album and a song called 'electric funeral'
my friend was singing 'FLEXIC NUNERAL'!
when i asked him why he just said simply that that was what the words are.

i told him, not only do neither of those words exist - the song is actually called 'electric funeral' !!
even then it took him a moment to allow the reality to sink in.
hilarious but dumb - especially since he regularly sang the song with his band....:oD
We were doing some alterations to the house and had the doors off the kitchen and living room. Hubby planed the kitchen door because it wouldn't close over the quarry tiles then laid the door on the hall floor while he did the living room door, which also needed quite a bit planing off. Thing is, when he thought he was planing the living room door, he had actually picked up the kitchen door and taken a load more off that. We then had 1 door that still wouldn't close over the carpet and another door that you could limbo dance under.
