Under each of my kitchen cabinets is a 6 in flourescent light bulb. Whenever they have needed replacing before, I have been able to get them in Wilkos, B & Q, or the local electrical store. This time though, everywhere seems to have stopped selling them, and the shortest I can find are 12 in. Nothing else will fit and I think I've found some on t'internet which means paying P&P. The new halogen or led or whatever have different ends so won't fit into my fittings. Has anyone else come across this? Am I looking in the wrong place? x

It might be worth your while asking in a shop that sells kitchen cabinets.

I thought of that Chipchopper and called into two places at the weekend but they couldn't help either. In fact a woman in one of those shops looked at me as though I was mad, looking for kitchen lights in a kitchen place... Mind you, I did see a lovely new worktop while I was there!
are you sure its florescent ? and not a tungsten tube light i've never heard of a 6" florescent ,they dont sell tungsten anymore

Hmm, I'll have a look at what they call the 12 in ones in Wilko while I'm out. I googled the make of it last night at home but I can't remember what it was. I wish I'd brought it with me now!
bump for Misky..open my amazon link !!!

Thanks MM - I have saved The Lightbulb Company's address as I saw they sold them, was hoping to save on P&P but I guess that might not be possible these days x
Misky doesn't want to pay postage and packing MM although it surely isn't more expensive than trawling round the shops looking?

Probably not Prudie, but it's one of those things where I used to get them locally - everyone says shop local - and then you can't! It looks as though it'll have to be internet shopping again. And start saving to change the fittings at home... x

Thanks Mikey I've never used e-bay so I'll set the husband onto that site. x
Misky....if you haven't used ebay before, there is no need to worry ! Its just like any other mail-order outlet, but with a couple of extra safeguards built in.....easy-peasy !

Thanks Mikey, I thought it was all about auctions and waiting, but I've just had a quick look and saw the "buy now" button. I'll give it a go when I get home. x
we bought a couple of rechargeable 12" led's from amazon. really good and last ages between charges
Question Author
Thanks for that Tommy
Misky....once you begin to use ebay, you will find it will soon be your first port of call, for things that you may not be able to obtain locally !

I use it for pretty much everything these days. I find it particularly good for second hand books....the biggest selection in the world, mostly at unbeatable prices.
