I've tried to get a Yahoo email account working properly and followed the instructions to set up and use in conjunction with Outlook Express. Most of the set-up appears OK but there's one thing peculiar about it. Whenever I try to send an email using Yahoo a dialogue box appears telling me to insert my username and password (as though I have inserted the wrong one) BUT the email has in fact been sent! Does anyone else have this puzzling experience?

It sounds as if you might have set up the account with 'My server requires authentication' ticked, when it's not actually required.

Go to Tools > Accounts > Mail
Click on the Yahoo account to highlight it.
Select 'Properties' and the 'Server' tab.
Unless the Yahoo instructions specifically stated that it was required, there should be no ticks in either of the boxes (i.e. next to 'My server requires secure password authentication' or 'My server requires authentication').
Remove any unnecessary ticks, click 'Apply' & 'OK'.

Thank you Chris. It was something to do with not having the correct Ports entered and, as you said, some unnecessary ticks in boxes. Live and learn.
