He had an older brother Arthur who died before he could become king - if he'd have lived we'd have had a King Arthur.

He met King Francis I of France at what became known as the field of the cloth of Gold - Each King tried to out do the other with showy displays of wealth - forget rappers in gold-plated cars - Henry had a temporary palace built with fountains of wine.

There's a couple for you

If you want 'gory' - Henry injured his leg hunting when thrown frojm his horse, and the leg festered, untreated for years, and became gangrenous, weeping and smelling foul until he died. It's rumoured he contracted syphyllis from Arab ******, which partly explained his increaingly irrational behaviour.

thanks guys!!!!!!!!!! your help has been great thank you!

Henry VIII died at Westminster and was taken to Windsor for burial. The coffin rested overnight at Syon House, somewhere near Twickenham. The body burst in the coffin and blood and other fluids dripped out, and was licked by the family dogs. This fulfilled a prophecy by a Franciscan monk that dogs would lick his blod.

Gory enough for you?

he died of a mankey willy

legend has it that he had "relations" with his second wife Ann Boleyn's mother and sister long before he married her!

Hi,

He greeted Anne Bolynne at the Sally Port in the Toer of London on the eve of their marriage, got down on one knee and proclaimed ' I will love you for the rest of your life', which he did all three years of it. His third wife Jane Seymore is buried with him, when he first met Anne of Cleves, it was a 'blind date' as she had been sent over to marry him, when he first saw he turned to his men and said 'I like her not!'. His first wife was married to his brother Aurthur, but when Aurthur died he was then given to her, he was ten years old and she was 16.

He had his fourth wife, Catherine Howrad, beheaded for adultery, her last words were, I die your queen, but I'd much rather die the wife of Thomas Colepper (her lover)', this infuriated Henry so much that he had quick lime out into her coffin so that it would dissolve any remains of her.

One of the last acts of his life was to found Trinity College Cambridge - with profound long-term consequences for English scholarship

Not so much gory, but interesting none the less (I love the Tudors!)

He wrote the song Greensleeves
His second wife Ann Boleyn had six fingers on one of her hands
He had an illegitamate son born before Edward, but this child could never become king as he was the result of an affair
He wore yellow and celebrated the death of his first wife Catherine of Aragon
Despite being repulsed by Ann of Cleves, Henry treated her as a sister, giving her a palace after their divorce and frequently visiting her to play cards
Jane was his favourite wife - wonder why!

And then there's the disgusting and gory things that happened to his body as he died, and before he was buried - yuk!

wow! thanks everyone! what a great help i owe you all one
