Received a fire stick as a gift. Gone through the installation process, my WIFI is working ok, but the firestick fails to connect. Any ideas, please?

I got my daughter a firestick it would not connect! Kept saying log in error! I thought I'd done everything by the book (I'm with BT)
But I had to go into Settings/Advanced Settings and typed in password again, and THEN untick the disable box
And ONLY then did it work! Also clear Cache and clear Purge regularly!
A lot of it you can find via YouTube. Good luck
