Pole Vaulters

Do Pole vaulters have their own poles and if so how do they transport them to each venue. Or does the venue supply the poles?

Stupid question I know but I've often wondered!

Sorry. Each vaulter has his own pole and would be transported by the club.

Vaulters are reponsible for transporting their own poles to international, or indeed any, event. However when a team go it is easier for all the poles to go together. Problems have arisen in the past when competitors needed to travel by smaller aircraft, and the only place long enough to store same was the passenger cabin!

And more on that subject - I believe each vaulter can have three or more, a selection for differing weather conditions at each event. Whether that is true I can't verify, but I also believe each pole 'breaks down' into sections for travelling etc - too much information perhaps, but we got all the lowdown during the recent C/wealth Games when the gorgeous Tatiana managed to misplace hers [or someone did it for her] prior to the event and needless to say there was a bit of a panic on to find them.
Of course the commentators had a field day and we were a captive audience and overloaded with info but you never know what comes in handy !!!
