I am going to get my eyes lasered this afternoon - goodbye specs, hello make-up! Can anyone recommend a good make-up remover, both for the face and the eyes? I heard that soap and water don't cut through make-up properly. I have great skin for a 31-year old, and don't want to start wrecking it!

Any advice for a late starter would be most appreciated!

It has always done the job that no other remover has! a bit more pricey than other you could buy, but you don't need much of it & I am sure you won't be disappointed :o)

Good luck with the procedure ~ and enjoy your make up!

Sorry ~ I just noticed you asked for a make up remover for your face as well as your eyes. I am not sure what to suggest, as I have always used them separately.

Hope someone else can give you a good suggestion!

Ooo Soozmac, please let us know how it goes. if it hurts, uncomfortable. What they do!! And who you're getting it done by!

Sorry for all the questions but i've never heard ffirsthand what it's like.

Good luck, L

I love Clarins foaming facial wash - takes every bit off and conditions my skin too

Hi soozmac!

I always use make-up wipes for sensitive skin (and my skin is always nice). I also use a toner afterwards (you'd be surprised that this takes of what's left) and then I moisturise too.

You can also get a Johnson's face wash for removing make-up with tiny blue oily beads in. It's very gentle and effective.

Hope all goes well with the procedure. You must be very excited! xxx

try the one from benefit (normally have counters in department stores). its clear liquid & you use it on cotton wool. its does both face & eyes & is the best one ive tried.

dont forget you are still supposed to cleans, tone & moisturise afterwards.

if you are not used to wearing makeup i would recomend tinted moisturiser. good one is chanel hydramax+ which is spf 15 aswell & smells lovely (should be about 22)

good luck with your laser treatment

Out of interest (just plain curiosity and NOT a criticism!) why would someone who wears specs not wear make-up?

Obviously, by my ignorant(!) question, i don't wear them, but if i did, i would NEED make-up otherwise i would frighten small animals and children, i am sure!

Is it unusual to go bare-faced when one wears specs...?

And: GOOD LUCK!!!

I used to use Boots No. 7 Cleanser, but now use Asda unscented baby wipes & they're brilliant. They remove all traces of mascara & do not make you eyes sore.

I also use them for cleaning all sorts sorts of things - well if they're good enough for babies bottoms.....

P.S. Good luck with the laser surgery - I've been talking about having the same thing done myself, as I'm always losing my spec's - drives me potty!!!!

thanks for all your good luck wishes and advice.

Purpose - no offence taken! I don't wear make-up under my glasses as I don't see the point. I like to wear lots of eye-makeup, but then my lashes rub on the inside of my spex. Basically, I feel so drab and ugly and plain and frumpy in them, I don't see the point (as my mother would say) of polishing a t*rd.

The laser surgery is going to change more than just my eyesight, and I can't wait! Am back online next Wed, will mail again then to let you all know.

Dermalogica Soothing Eye Make Up Remover is great, i wear contacts and it doesnt irritate them or also Dermalogica's Ultra Calming Cleanser is good for both eyes and face.

Good Luck and let us know how it goes! x

Am back at work now, the surgery was absolutely fine. Eyes were a bit dry to begin with, but then, they always were - that's why I couldn't wear lenses. Need to wait another week or so before I can embark on my make-up adventure, am looking forward to it!
