is it possible for a brain tumour to be present unnoticed for a number of years before it is actually diganosed?

yes.

you can go for a number of years without noticing anything, depending on how serious the tumour is or if its affecting the brain.

you can have seizures if its affecting the brain.

Yes Kozmic is right - and remember that not all brain tumours are malignant (cancerous)
Yes, my best friend had a brain tumour diagnosed earlier this year and they aid it had been there since for at least 4 years. It was benign, luckily, but it's still a long road to recovery.
