Why is it that you cannot buy PORK cat food? There are all sorts of exotic flavours but pork is never on the menu

This is what one major cat food manufacturer has to say on the subject :-
While we do incorporate pork as an ingredient in some of our pet food products, we do not manufacture any dog or cat food products with pork as one of the primary ingredients. There is no reason from a nutrition standpoint not to use pork for pet foods. However, market research studies indicate that there isn't a lot of consumer demand for dog or cat food products which contain pork as a primary ingredient. Should that perception change, we would re-evaluate the use of pork as a primary ingredient in pet food products.
I'd always thought this was due to cats and dogs being more prone to Trichinosis. I know that at least one of mjy cats is sick every time she eats pork.
AND why no FISH dog food. Dogs love fish and I buy tinned pilchards in aspic and seafood cocktail cat food for my dogs.
I agree Janetex, and so good for them too!
I would have thought tinned rat would be a good seller !
Oh, goodness, Jenny, I'm in tears. I'm sure there's a niche market for that! I'd certainly buy it - Ratfix for really hungry pets and Mounchies for the peckish. There, you now have a new "calling".
