I was asked in a recent job application to describe myself in 7 words.I was totally stumped as what to say.You can't say something like funny because I was very serious at the time. You can't say intelligent as that is boasting.

So I was wondering how would you describe yourself in 7 words? What type of person are you?

I'm with smiffy on this one. It's more than 7 words, but I'm "the sort of person who wouldn't want to work for any organisation that comes up with such pathetic lame-brained crap." I sometimes want to strangle interviewers that ask such pointless questions (and yes I'm aware that wanting to strangle them probably won't put me on the shortlist - well, not one for the job, anyway). What can it possibly achieve to ask this?

Sorry timmy, I know you threw this out to the board as a fun exercise and I've gone off on one but your job application story was at the root of it, and having gone through a phase a few years back of having quite a few interviews and making loads of applications, I've bene left with a poor impression of application and interview techniques of many organisations. (Not to mention bafflement at the apparent incompetence of so many personnel depts).

That is quite alright I totally agree. This type of question is pointless. It is also impossible to answer correctly. Also it proves nothing people just lie.
