Henna is a natural colour derived from a plant. It is a LOT safer than having your skin pierced hundreds of times with a needle to inject dye under the skin.

Just occasionally henna can cause an allergic reaction. Best to test on a small area first.
Just make sure it's sourced from somewhere reliable, there have been severe allergic reactions to the type you often see in tourist destinations eg Spain. Doing a skin test first is very god advice.
