If the box seems completely dead when you switch it on - no "on" light lit or whatever - it could be that the fuse in the mains plug has blown. Unscrew the cover for the plug and replace the fuse with one of the same colour and see if that works.
Could you try reinstallation? I did this the other day when I couldn't get BBCi. It also improved my channel 5 reception.

the main plug on the digi box lead does not appear to open anywhere. And i have checked the mains socket and all is well with other appliances.

OK wickedtart, thanks for responding. We need to find out if the box is getting any power. Is there a power switch on the box itself, maybe at the back? If so make sure this is set to on.

When the plug is in and the power switched on, can you look inside the box at all through any air vents to see if any little lights are on inside, or if there is any sort of faint humming?

Also, have another look at the plug. There may be a little plastic "door" near one of the two smaller pins, perhaps marked fuse. Maybe you can lever the door open with a small screwdriver to change the fuse?

Let us know how you get on.

I think i may have mislead you as i suddenly realised it is a bush freeview box. I forced the plug for the freeview box off and there is no fuse, i fear now that i may have to buy a new unit unless i can get a new power lead from mains to freeview, Any other ideas. Thanking you for your help

Hi again wickedtart.

So I guess from what you said in your last post that the plug is now broken. No prob - just buy another 3pin plug (which will have a fuse in it) and connect that to the cable that goes into the freeview box. If you don't know how to connect a plug, find a friend who can do it for you.

Then try the box again. Let us know how you get on. If it still doesn't work, we'll have to think of something else1

Think i have completely ruined the plug as when opening it, found it has a mini board inside, and smells odd. Will go to Dixons and see if they are able to replace it, however it is not the normal 2 prong, just one item that fits in the freeview box. Will keep u updated, but thanks for your help
